Text: Luke 10:38-42 - Mary and Martha - Martha invited Jesus to come to her house to rest. Martha's sister Mary followed Christ in and sat at His feet so she could hear His words and teachings. Martha was cumbered with all the tasks of serving and being a good hostess. Martha complained to Jesus about her sister Mary just sitting at His feet and not helping her do the serving. Jesus spoke to her and said, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things, but one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her." The most important thing was to draw close to Jesus and hear His words of teaching and healing, not to get busy with other things.
> We must learn to recognize and make smart choices. #1 thing is to put Christ first in our lives. pursue Him, go to where He is. Inquire of Him, learn of Him and recieve Him into your heart as your Lord and Saviour. The Bible teaches us that if we will draw close to Him, He will draw close to us too. Rev.3:20 says, "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if you will open the door, I will come in and dine with you and you with Me." Jesus is at our heart's door knocking saying, "Can I come in?" You have to open that door for Him to fellowship with you and to live in your heart and mind and be your Lord and teacher. We need to be intentional in seeking God and His Righteousness so we can move ourselves into alignment and favor with God.
In modern society things move so quickly that many believe all you have to do to fall behind is to just stand still and do nothing. Spiritually speaking, in God's kingdom, all it takes to fall into a hole is to stop moving ahead!
The virtue or conformity to the proper alignment, isn't solely in the movement itself, it's in the constant compensation we must make to keep in alignment and moving forward. Do you remember the first time you tried to ride a bicycle? Most of us tackled that project totally unaware of the key to success on those two-wheeled wonders and that is, you have to keep moving and compensate the direction of our weight to keep our balance and stay upright. There are two variables I would like you to look at here: Keep Moving and Keep compensating to keep your balance.
While learning to ride a Bike, our untrained instinct told us to stop all motion in a time of crisis. Unfortunately, the moment we stopped moving forward, we also lost our power to compensate for our balance and the bike would fall over and crash. You must keep moving so you can keep compensating to bring yourself back into alignment and keep going straight in the path you are traveling.
It wasn't until we learned to "Keep Moving" through a time of crisis that we discovered how to avoid a fall by compensating with a turn of the handlebar and a shift of our weight towards the opposite direction to bring ourselves back into alignment and perfect balance.
We are learning this same lesson of focus, alignment and balance in our every day lives we live as we pursue happiness, success and spiritual maturity in Christ. We have to keep focused on the path we are traveling, keep moving forward and keep compensating in order to stay balanced,in alignment and on course.
All it takes for a big fall is the failure to compensate for imbalances in our lives. As we drift away from God, we lose the ability to hear His voice of direction in our life. We become spiritually dry and powerless to bring ourselves back into alignment with God's blessings. The Bible tells us "Without Christ you can do nothing." "If we allow sin to rule in our lives it brings spiritual death to us." We need God in our life, to save us from the power of sin and to empower us with His Holy Spirit to be over-comers in this world. When we get off course then we need to pray to God ask for His forgiveness and then step back on course again and stay there in God's perfect balance as you travel down the path of life.
Keep moving ahead, stay focused on the road ahead, make compensations when needed to stay balanced and in alignment with God and His favor. This is what God the creator of the heavens and the earth says to you -
"For I know the plans I have for you, "says the Lord, "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. When you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me." Jeremiah 29:11-13 NLT
